Firefighters build on containment progres as operations shift toward repair
Operational Update: Firefighters will maintain current suppression operations while preparing to transition the incident to Southwest Areas Incident Management Team 4. With additional fireline contained, resources are focused on the remaining direct suppression work and suppression repair.
Hotshot crews will remain spiked out south of the fire in the Pecos Wilderness. These crews will continue adding direct containment lines as they work their way northwest.
On the northern portion of the incident, existing contingency assignments remain in place. Crews and heavy equipment are strengthening contingency lines as well as improving existing roads and control features.
Air Quality: Nambé and Española will have moderate air quality all day today. Santa Fe, Taos and Valley Vista should have mostly moderate air quality in the morning, with good conditions tonight. Weather: Today will begin warm and dry, with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s and low daytime humidity. Showers and thunderstorm coverage is expected to increase somewhat during the afternoon. Cloud coverage and nearby storms may help moderate fire behavior.
Evacuations: In Santa Fe County, all of Cundiyo, Cerro Piñon, and the Borrego Mesa area—specifically near Forest Roads 440 and 306—are in “Set” status. Nambe Pueblo Lake remains in “Ready” status. For more information, please visit https://www.santafecountynm.

Closures: There is a road closure for NM 503 between County Road 98 and State Road 76. Visitors are encouraged to avoid the fire area and use caution when traveling near firefighting operations.
The Santa Fe National Forest issued a temporary forest closure to include the Pecos Wilderness area on the Espanola Ranger District for the Frijoles Fire. The forest order closure and map can be found or here https://inciweb.wildfire.gov/
