LTE: One Candidate For County Council Stands Out For Me – Joe Granville

BY GEORGE CHANDLER
Los Alamos

This is a tough primary for Democrats in Los Alamos. We have one of the strongest fields of council candidates I’ve seen in years, five well-qualified Democrats any four of whom will serve Los Alamos well on the council. One stands out for me: Joe Granville.

I’ve suggested a council run to Joe in the past, for various reasons he declined or ran for Sheriff instead, but now he’s jumped in, both feet. I am delighted not just for Los Alamos, but because he exemplifies the qualities that I believe strengthen the Democratic Party against the madness that the other party has brought to American politics, and the panicky chaos that characterizes some of my party’s responses. He’s been in the construction and related businesses, knows what it takes to start and survive in the critical private business sector, and importantly is living proof that progressive values are fully compatible with business and financial acumen.

I hope you’ll give full consideration to Joe Granville’s run. If you know him, you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t know him, I think you will find his calm demeanor and solid good judgment will strengthen the deliberations of the council, a venue where continuing good governance under Democratic leadership brings credit to the Democratic Party.
