The First Judicial District Attorney’s office has dismissed the complaint filed against Kyrina Deschamp, 20, of Los Alamos without prejudice because she has been accepted into the Pre-Prosecution Diversion Program. The dismissal notes that the charges may be refiled at a later date.

On January 9, Los Alamos Police Department Det. Sgt. Ryan Wolking filed five counts of criminal sexual penetration against Deschamp stating that the five counts cover sexual intercourse occurring between her and the victim in July, August, September, October and November. Court records filed by Wolking indicate that during those months, sexual intercourse occurred many times, but that five counts “covers the dating relationship time period.

Deschamp was also charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, which Wolking said is appropriate for all the times Deschamp provided the victim with drugs, His affidavit notes that although Deschamp admitted to providing the victim with drugs five or six times, the one count would “over those transactions”.

Deschamp is represented by Attorney William Snowden.

Editor’s note: The Pre-Prosecution Diversion (PPD) Program is a formal alternative to traditional criminal prosecution. It allows certain first-time, non-violent offenders to complete a supervised program in exchange for having their charges dismissed.
