Tim Pacheco, 63, of Los Alamos faces multiple charges in Los Alamos Magistrate Court following his arrest in connection with events that occurred between July and December 2025, and in January 2026 linked to charges already in Magistrate Court against Kyrina Deschamp and Shawn Cavasos. https://losalamosreporter.com/2026/01/10/two-los-alamos-residents-charged-with-criminal-sexual-penetration-of-child-aged-13-16/
An affidavit of arrest warrant filed in Magistrate Court Monday by Los Alamos Police Department Det. Sgt. Ryan Wolking contains multiple allegations against Pacheco. The criminal complaint filed by Wolking charges Pacheco with three counts of Abandonment or Abuse of a Child. Alternative counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor are included as well.
The affidavit of arrest warrant filed by Wolking states that while under Pacheco’s care and supervision, a juvenile female engaged in sexual relationships with Deschamp, who is 20 years old, and allegedly with Cavasos. Wolking states that the relationship with Deschamp took place in Pacheco’s residence due to Pacheco allowing Deschamp to reside there. The affidavit alleges Pacheco knew Deschamp’s age and that the relationships also involved cocaine and molly with Deschamp and alcohol with Cavasos.
“Since these two illegal relationships were discovered and revealed to Pacheco, and while the juvenile female has remained in his care, allegations of another illegal relationship during January 2026 with another mid-30s adult have been received by LAPD and are currently being investigated,” the affidavit states.
Texts between the juvenile female’s mother and Pacheco from July 2025 indicate that the mother told him it was inappropriate that Deschamp was staying in the juvenile’s room, and alleged that the Deschamp and the juvenile had been “out drinking”, the affidavit alleges.
The affidavit says that Cavasos had an alcohol problem and that he and the juvenile were not to be left alone. It indicates that Pacheco ignored warnings from Cavasos’s wife by allowing the juvenile to travel to Albuquerque with Cavasos and stay at his residence while his wife was out of town in December 2025. One family member confirmed “1000%” that they believe Tim Pacheco to be “an enabler”, the affidavit states.
Wolking states that another child interviewed January 29 stated they spoke with Pacheco about Deschamp and the juvenile female showering and sleeping together and the smell of marijuana coming from the juvenile’s room, but that Pacheco dismissed those concerns.
:Abandonment or abuse of a child – “abuse of a child consists of a person knowingly or negligently and without justifiable cause, causing or permitting a child to be placed in a situation that may endanger the child’s life or health”, the affidavit states.
“(The juvenile victim’s) recent and well-documented suicidal ideations, drug and alcohol abuse, non-suicidal self injury and other destructive behavior are explicit examples of her life and health being endangered by Tim Pacheco’s actions or lack thereof”, the affidavit states.
It lists “one count for sexual activity, which occurred between Deschamp and (the juvenile victim” in (Pacheco’s) residence; another count for the marijuana activity in the (juvenile victim’s) bedroom in his residence; and a third will be related to placing (the juvenile victim) in Cavasos’s care after being warned against that and knowing Cavasos’s struggle with alcoholism and knowing (the juvenile victim’s) apparent and obvious (unhealthy) obsession with Cavasos. Alternative counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor are included as well.”
Magistrate Judge Catherine Taylor, presiding over Pacheco’s first appearance in Court Wednesday, imposed standard conditions of pre-trial release with the additional requirement that Pacheco avoid all contact with the juvenile victim, minor children and their mother.
Judge Taylor also issued a No Contact Order requiring:
No contact with any victims or witnesses unless through defense counsel, without a representative of the District Attorney’s Office being present;
No writing to or talking to or contacting victim/witness telephonically or through social media or video or any way other than through Pacheco’s attorney if he has an attorney;
Shall not abuse, threaten, harass, entice or persuade false statements or testimony from any victim/witness;
Shall not participate or seek the assistance of others to abuse, threaten, harass, entice or persuade false statements of victim/witness;
If Pacheco is released from custody while the matter is pending, the no contact order shall remain in full force.
A felony status conference has been set for Feb. 23 in Magistrate Court for Pacheco.
Deschamp’s first appearance was held February 2 and she was granted standard conditions of pre-trial release with additional order that she not make any contact with Cavasos or the Pacheco family, including minor children. Her felony status conference is also set for Feb. 23. She is represented by Attorney William Snowden.
Cavasos is slated for a preliminary hearing Feb. 18 in Los Alamos Magistrate Court. He is represented by Attorney Adam Oakey.
