Joseph Michael Pinkerton passed away August 18, 2022 in Santa Fe, NM at the age of 42.

Joseph is predeceased in death by Mara Padilla and leaves behind his child, Ashur Pinkerton; mother, Sheree Pinkerton; brother, Jared Pinkerton; sister, Michelle Diaz; nieces, Jordan Pinkerton and Kieira Aisling; sister-in law, Estrella Pinkerton; brother-in-law, Pedro Diaz; Devlyn Villalobos-Iturralde; and friends who loved Joseph as family.

Joseph was born on June 18, 1980, in Santa Ana, CA. After graduating from Los Alamos High School in 1997, Joseph attended the University of New Mexico in Los Alamos, NM. Joseph honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. During his service Joseph achieved the rank of staff sergeant and received numerous awards for his achievements-a source of pride throughout his life. After receiving an honorable discharge, Joseph lived his life in northern New Mexico focusing on his friends and family. It was during this time that Joseph found his creativity, publishing his first book, “The Distant Bitter Dust,” and began writing his second standalone story.

A father, a son, a brother, an uncle, an author, a genius, a comedian, a humanitarian, a good friend. These words could never truly capture who Joseph was. Only those closest to him could really understand who Joseph was-a good listener, the kind of person who was there when you needed him the most, and someone who was willing to lend a helping hand without the expectation of anything in return. A humble human being and a stoic, Joseph never talked about the things that made him such a wonderful person. He was the kind of person that people gravitated towards, never an outsider, someone who could brighten your day without saying a word . The impact Joseph had on the world and those around him is truly ineffable. Those who had the opportunity to call Joseph friend, uncle, brother, father, son will forever miss him.

Funeral services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM on Sept. 6, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service to be held at Hyde Park in Santa Fe, NM on Sept. 10, 2022, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Both the services and memorial are open to all who knew Joseph.
