White Rock
The first time I discussed local politics with David Hampton was at one of the Friday Night Concerts in Los Alamos. I was initially skeptical of his candidacy, but over the following months, I had several opportunities to speak with him about issues that concern me as a resident and local business owner.
One conversation in particular stands out. Following the traffic problems in White Rock on June 19, I shared my concerns with David. He took the time to discuss the situation, listen to my perspective, and personally follow up through his involvement with the County’s Transportation Board. I appreciated that he didn’t simply acknowledge my concerns and move on. He took them seriously and made an effort to address them.
It was one of several interactions that left me thinking, “I would vote for that guy.”
In the time I’ve known David, I’ve found him to be attentive, responsive, and well-informed. His experience serving on County boards and commissions is apparent in our conversations, and I appreciate his knowledge of County operations and his involvement in our community.
As a local business owner, I also appreciate his interest in supporting small businesses and his willingness to consider the practical challenges we face.
I don’t expect elected officials to agree with me on every issue or to have an immediate solution to every problem. What I do expect is that they be accessible, informed, willing to listen, and willing to follow through.
My interactions with David have demonstrated those qualities and he has earned my support for Los Alamos County Council.
