BY STEVEN LYNNE
Candidate for
Los Alamos County Council
I’m Steven Lynne, a candidate for County Council, and I’m asking for your vote. Early voting is open now and election day is less than two weeks away, on Nov. 3. If our paths have not crossed, allow me to introduce myself.
My wife, Suzanne, and I moved to New Mexico in 1994, and we knew almost immediately that Los Alamos was where we wanted to plant our roots. We raised our children here, and Suzanne spent her career working for the Los Alamos Public Schools. Since we retired, our commitment to this town has remained as strong as ever. This is our home, and I want to help ensure it remains a vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming place for everyone.
My career in the County began in the budget office and culminated in the role of County Manager. This journey gave me a front-row seat to the mechanics of our community—I’ve seen what works, where we face hurdles, and how to navigate the complex relationship we share with the Laboratory and our regional partners. I am running because I believe that my deep institutional knowledge, paired with a calm and collaborative approach, can help us tackle some of our most pressing challenges, like housing and downtown revitalization.
I care deeply about improving our community, and my experience would help me serve effectively on the County Council. Over my career, I attended hundreds of Council meetings and worked with more than a dozen Councils. I learned what makes an effective Councilor, and I believe I bring those qualities: I listen, empathize, and take a practical approach.

thoughts about our community. I’ll be at Wolf and Mermaid this Saturday, Oct. 24, from
10am to noon.
