If you can run, please consider joining Los Alamos Police Department, local NM Special Olympics and others Thursday morning at 7 a.m. outside the Department on the Central Avenue side and be ready to run segments of the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run. The entry fee consists of $25 to purchase a hat or T-shirt for the event from coordinator Det. Cindy Garcia. You can pay with cash or a check made out to SONM.

If you are like the Los Alamos Reporter and could only run if there was a snake in the area, you can show up to support the athletes and their families by cheering for them and for the runners as they leave the parking lot. It is something that will make your heart feel good, and you can also purchase a T-shirt or hat, or just make a donation by cash or check. It is a great chance to see the camaraderie among the law enforcement officers, who often include folks from Bandelier National Monument and members of the LANL security forces as well as Los Alamos Fire Department personnel
