Local artist Margarita Ryan has been selected for an international exhibition in Budapest and is heading there this week.

Margarita is an Argentine artist based in Los Alamos, New Mexico, known locally for her colorful and vibrant portraits inspired by J. Robert Oppenheimer and the unique cultural identity of Los Alamos. Her work explores the space between reality, memory, and imagination through emotionally charged imagery and symbolism.

 Alongside her artistic practice, Margarita runs Beehaus Design and Marketing, a local creative company that helps businesses with social media, branding, and website design. Through this work, she has been able to independently sustain and grow her career as an artist.  

Recently, one of Margarita’s paintings was selected for an international exhibition in Budapest, Hungary, an important opportunity to present her work to a global audience and connect with curators, collectors, and other artists from around the world.

For emerging independent artists, opportunities like this can be career-changing, but participating also comes with significant financial challenges. In order to attend the exhibition in person and transport the artwork overseas, Margarita is currently raising funds to help cover travel and related expenses.

“Being able to personally attend the exhibition means much more than simply shipping a painting,” Margarita says. “It’s an opportunity to share my work directly, build meaningful connections, and continue growing as an artist internationally.”

To help make the trip possible, Margarita has launched a support page where people can contribute directly or purchase limited edition items created to support the project.
