Chad Avery Kuzmack was called to be with our Heavenly Father on April 5, 2026. Over his 19 years, Chad grew from a happy kid who was the loudest in any room into a young man who never knew a stranger, just a person he didn’t have a chance to talk to yet.
He had many aliases, including Charlie Kuzmack and Chad Maestas, and even more roles as a son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, aspiring nursing student, door greeter at Walmart, animal shelter and elementary volunteer, and his most cherished: friend.
Chad’s enthusiasm for life was immeasurable – he loved harder than most people and his extroversion meant he shared that passion with the world. His sense of humor was unparalleled especially when coupled with his eccentric hobbies like tracking familial lineages, reciting knowledge of obscure animals, and reminiscing about nostalgia from a time before his own. His love of animals led him to have amazing animal encounters across the country from observing the only platypus in the United States in San Diego to feeding sloths in Colorado Springs and even swimming with penguins in Oklahoma. Chad loved playing with his little cousins and having the opportunity to fill the role of a big brother even though he was the baby of the Kuzmack family.
Chad will be remembered by his parents, Michael and Doreen Kuzmack, grandmother, Priscilla Garcia, grandfather, Wilbur Martinez, sisters, Megan Vigil and Stephanie Kuzmack, brothers-in-law James Vigil and Erick Martinez, nieces and nephew, Carter and Levi (Bluis) Vigil and Lucia Martinez, maternal aunt, Shelly Garcia-Jones, paternal uncle, Matthew Kuzmack, special uncle and aunt, Donald and Samantha, extended Maestas, Martinez, and Kuzmack family, and a list far too long of those whose lives he touched. In Chad’s memory, please take an extra moment to be kind, inclusive, and patient of others. It’s a Chaderful life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 4:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
The family of Chad Kuzmack has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the beautiful Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
