LAPS FOUNDATION NEWS RELEASE
It’s time for graduating seniors to begin applying for local scholarships! Families, educators, and community members are encouraged to spread the word to students graduating this spring about the many scholarship opportunities available right here in our community.
Local organizations, families and individuals in the Los Alamos community offer a wide range of scholarships designed to support graduating seniors with diverse interests, backgrounds, and future plans. Scholarships are available for more than just academic achievement—many recognize community service, career and technical pathways, and alternative post-secondary options beyond traditional four-year college programs.
The deadline for most local scholarship applications is February 27, 2026 but there are several that aren’t due until later in March.

The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation awards multiple scholarships each year. These scholarships focus on areas such as community service and career and technical education. We also have a scholarship for a student pursuing a career in education. Students who receive LAPS Foundation scholarships select an Educator of Distinction from their years in Los Alamos Public Schools, honoring the educator alongside the student.
In addition, the LAPS Foundation administers many scholarships on behalf of community members, including six new scholarships this year. This long list of scholarships is applicable to a variety of students with involvement or interest in STEM, cross country/track, golf, volunteering, community involvement, soccer, financial need, theater, social justice, reading an impactful book, and substance abuse prevention.
