PURPLE PINKY
When: October 24
Where: Los Alamos elementary schools
https://www.losalamosgives.org/story/Purplepinky
Goal: $5000
For decades, Rotary International has been at the forefront of the global fight against polio, reducing cases by 99.9% since 1988. We are so close to eradication, but the job isn’t done, and continued vaccinations are paramount to ensure this debilitating disease never resurfaces.
The Rotary Club of Los Alamos is proud to continue our Purple Pinky Fundraiser to support Rotary’s polio eradication efforts. Just as children in countries receiving the polio vaccine have their pinky finger marked purple, we will be partnering with Los Alamos Public Schools on Friday, October 24 to give elementary school students the opportunity to have their pinky dyed purple, learn about global health and the importance of vaccinations, and optionally, bring a $1 donation to help us in the fight for a polio-free world. We also invite the community to donate at https://www.losalamosgives.org/story/Purplepinky.
With our goal nearly accomplished, Rotary is starting to use its established vaccination infrastructure to combat cervical cancer by providing vaccines for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) as well, ensuring our vaccinations resources continue to build goodwill after polio is eradicated.

Goal: $8000
Hunger affects more than 40,000 people in northern New Mexico, even in Los Alamos. The Rotary Club of Los Alamos is excited to announce our upcoming Meals of Hope meal packing event, aiming to provide nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals for those facing food insecurity.
Our ambitious goal is to raise $8,000 to pack 25,000 meals, which will be distributed to families throughout Northern New Mexico by The Food Depot, who delivers more than 700,000 meals each month through its network of over 80 partners. You can help us reach this goal by donating at https://www.losalamosgives.org/story/Mealsofhope
Beyond financial contributions, we also need volunteers to help us pack these meals. If you can lend a hand, please join us at Crossroads Bible Church on Saturday, November 22nd, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Your time and effort will provide thousands of meals for northern New Mexico families.
