
PEEC NEWS RELEASE
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) invites outdoor lovers, trip leaders, and anyone who spends time in remote areas to gain critical safety skills during its Wilderness First Aid (WFA) 2-Day Course on November 1–2.
Taught by certified instructor Jeff DeBellis of SOLO, the oldest continuously operating wilderness medicine school in the world, this hands-on course teaches how to respond to illness, injury, and emergencies when professional medical help may be hours away. Participants will learn patient assessment, wound care, splinting, environmental hazards, and how to handle a variety of outdoor accidents through lectures, practice, and real-life scenarios.
The training runs on Saturday and Sunday, November 1 & 2, from 8 AM to 5 PM at Los Alamos Nature Center (2600 Canyon Rd). Registration includes 16 hours of instruction, a textbook, certification valid for two years, and a catered lunch on Saturday.
Participants should bring their own sack lunch on Sunday and will receive a supply lis after registering.
