LTE: Endorsing Andrew Wright For UNM-LA Advisory Board

BY SUZANNE SCOTT, PhD

I enthusiastically endorse Dr. Andrew Wright’s campaign for the UNM-Los Alamos Advisory Board. I have known Andy for nearly a decade, both as his dissertation advisor and as a supervisor for his teaching.  In addition to being a committed educator who cares deeply about student experience and performance, Andy’s research background on student smartphone use, notifications, and multitasking makes him uniquely equipped to address the challenges and changing learning landscape facing contemporary student bodies and academic institutions.

Additionally, teaching through university closures during Covid-19 has equipped Andy to nimbly adapt to new teaching modalities and student needs. Since moving to Los Alamos, Andy has thoroughly committed himself to his community in his work with the Los Alamos Arts Council, and his appointment to the UNM-LA Advisory Board would allow him to expand that commitment and deploy his expertise on the changing needs of college students. I know that Andy will serve the UNM-Los Alamos Advisory Board with the same tireless commitment and thoughtful decision making that we all came to rely on, and I hope you will strongly consider voting for him.
