Long before she began to paint her watercolors, E. E. Aicher had developed a strong connection with nature and the great outdoors, which she still maintains. If she’s not painting, you may find her looking for and finding the largest tree if each species in the Valles Caldera National Preserve or pulling out invasive species at the Bandelier National Monument.
Liz said several years ago, she felt a persistent itch she couldn’t quite scratch.
“I bought a new watercolor kit, an because its instructions read, ‘First, draw your subject,’ I drew and drew. Later I attended a watercolor workshop and put my brush to paper for the first time, and I was hooked. I had found the way to scratch that itch,” she said.
Liz spent two years working with Robert J. Krajecki, a 25-year instructor at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Krajecki gave her the basics of watercolors on which to grow, she said.
Liz’s love of Mother Earth and Father Sky shines through in her watercolors. She has a unique style in her work and once you have seen it, you will be ready to see more.
Until April 30, Aicher’s watercolors will be exhibited at the Los Alamos Co-Op Market. She also has work in the current show at Village Arts. She also shows her work in the Summer Arts and Crafts Fairs at Fuller Lodge and in the art show at the Cathedral Park in Santa Fe.
