A jury was selected Monday morning in First Judicial District Court in Los Alamos for the trial of former Los Alamos Police Department detective Matthew Lyon on a charge of perjury, a fourth degree felony, in connection with testimony July 17, 2023 preliminary hearing in Los Alamos Magistrate Court. Four days have been set aside for the trial by Judge Jason Lidyard.
Fifth Judicial District Attorney Dianna Luce, who was appointed Special Prosecutor for the case and Justin Dominguez, a special investigator in her office, are prosecuting the case. Lyon is represented by Albuquerque Attorney John D’Amato.
With the jury panel seated, the Court heard opening statements from Luce and D’Amato Tuesday morning and testimony from several witnesses throughout the day. The trial continues today, Wednesday at the Los Alamos Judicial Center.
