The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and Los Alamos Mesa Public Library invite families to a special Summer Family Evening on Wednesday, July 3, at 6:00 p.m. at the Los Alamos Nature Center. This delightful event is generously sponsored by the Del Norte LOV Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Del Norte Credit Union.
● Storytime: Join the library youth services staff as they read “Kate, Who Tamed the Wind” by Liz Garton Scanlon & Lee White. This engaging picture book tells the story of a girl who tames the wind with creativity and determination.
● Craft Activity: Create your own handmade soft breezes wind chime using provided materials and items found in nature. Participants will also learn to tie a sling knot to suspend their windchime for the breezes.
○ Note: Children 5 and under will need their caregiver to assist them with the craft.
Admission is free for all attendees as this event is under the auspices of the County libraries. Summer Family Evenings are held on Wednesdays throughout June and July at 6 p.m., offeringa variety of fun and educational activities for the whole family. Each event is designed to engage children and adults alike in learning and exploration.

PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages away to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies. PEEC operates the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road, holds regular programs and events, and hosts several interest groups, from birding to hiking to butterfly watching.
