As men, it’s essential for us to actively participate in our community and support it in all ways we can. Supporting nonprofits is a great way to make our town better, and by coming together, we can help them thrive. I invite you to join the upcoming 100 Men Who Care event, where we can make a real difference.
In March, I had the pleasure of participating in the first post-COVID 100 Men Who Care event. I was genuinely impressed by the initiative, which is similar to the well-known 100 Women Who Care. This group provides much-needed funds to local nonprofits, allowing them to continue their vital work in our community.
Not only did I learn about these impactful nonprofits, but I also had the chance to contribute and connect with other men who share a commitment to our community. Choosing just one organization to support was challenging because each one offers so much to Los Alamos. The event, organized in a “Shark Tank” format, was both fun and a fantastic opportunity to engage with other men who care deeply about our town.
As Los Alamos continues to grow and welcome new residents, it is crucial for us to connect and volunteer with organizations that enrich our community. There are many needs, but the number of men stepping up to help is too few. We need to be a town where more than 100 men care.
Supporting local nonprofits through 100 Men Who Care is just one way to get involved. Volunteering is another way to engage with our community and support their missions. The website Volunteer Los Alamos lists numerous opportunities to volunteer.
Food and drinks are provided, making the event a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I urge all men to come and show their commitment to our community.
Event Details:
100 Men Who Care – Los Alamos, a group of men dedicated to providing immediate and meaningful financial support to local organizations, will be holding its next quarterly event from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the SALA Event Center.
Organized like a “Shark Tank” for nonprofits, the event is only 90 minutes long. During that time, the group votes on one of three organizations to support based on short presentations by each. Each group member then writes a check for $100 directly to the winning organization.
Through prior events, 100 Men Who Care – Los Alamos has collected more than $13,000 for local nonprofits.
The nominated charities for the June event are:
- League of Women Voters
- First Born Los Alamos
- Dance Arts Los Alamos
The 100 Men Who Care – Los Alamos group is open to all interested in participating. Each member commits to contributing $100 once a quarter. Members may also nominate their favorite local charity. Although an RSVP is not necessary, anyone can let the group know they are attending by sending an email to 100menwhocarelosalamos@gmail.com
