LAPS NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos High School 10th grader Helena Welch placed 3rd in Mathematics at the 2024 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)  in Los Angeles.

She was awarded $1,000 for her project, “Virtually Reconstructing an Ancient Musical Instrument”. In addition, she received a special award of $500 from the American Mathematical Society. There were 61 countries represented and over 1600 participants. 

The ISEF draws high school scientists from around the world. This year’s winners shared more than $9 million in awards.
