Resilience And Resistance: Get Ready For 2024 Los Alamos Pride

FRIENDS OF LOS ALAMOS PRIDE NEWS RELEASE

What is rainbow-colored, filled with friends and community, fun for all ages, and happens every June? Come out and see for yourself: it’s Los Alamos Pride!

For the seventh year, the Los Alamos Pride festival celebrates the Los Alamos LGBTQ+ community and the history of gay pride in the U.S. The theme this year is resilience and resistance, and we plan to have shirts, stickers, tote bags and more with this message for the ages and some unique-to-LA art.

Who knew we celebrated gay pride in Los Alamos?

Join this must-see Pride festival from 3-7 p.m. Friday, June 14, on the lawn at Central Park Square (adjacent to Boese Bros and the Y Express). How do we celebrate in Los Alamos? There will be music on the stage, gay swag galore, lawn games, and more.

Own a business or non-profit? Consider hosting a free booth with games and give-aways and support your community at the festival! Text or email board member Melissa Mackey at (505) 660-4000 or bunnypirate@gmail.com to reserve your space today.

Pride Week: Chock-full of fun and games

Los Alamos County (and the Lab) celebrate Pride Week this year from June 9 through June 15 with art projects (tie dying T-shirts and painting the underpass), a flashy flag parade around Ashley Pond, game night, a special Unitarian Church service, and an adult night out with dinner and drinks. There may be some exciting new events this year, too, like a queer movie night. Stay tuned!

We need your help!

You may be asking, How can I help? This is a volunteer-run effort by Friends of Los Alamos Pride, and there are only so many of us. We’ll need help during Pride Week with all the events, especially on June 14 to set up and break down the festival. Contact bunnypirate@gmail.com to get involved today!

Can’t come in person? We would love to take your financial donations to make these events happen! Contact flaplosalamos@gmail.com to make a donation.
Join in the planning at the next LAC Pride 2024 meeting 6 p.m. Monday, May 20, upstairs at Mesa Public Library.
