Editor’s note: The date for this event has been changed from April 20 to April 13

On Saturday, April 13 the Los Alamos Public Library is pleased to host a very special guest at Mesa Public Library Storytime from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Local author Carie Fanning will read her latest book “Lucy Ann’s Chair”.

Longtime Los Alamos resident, Carie Fanning, retired as Family Strengths Network Executive Director in 2023 and has embarked on a new chapter as a children’s book author. Her book, “Lucy Ann’s Chair,” has been a long time coming for this mother and grandmother.

“The silly things that children do and say inspire me. Children are uncensored and act and speak without overthinking. A quality I wish I still possessed,” says Fanning. “Lucy Ann and Little Spark Stories were born out of my love for writing, and for the joy I feel when children share their world with me. Lucy Ann’s Chair is the first story of many stories I hope to publish inspired by the real-life actions and words of children.”

Fanning will join the regular Storytime as the library’s special guest and read her story about Lucy Ann who goes about her day, always with her red chair in tow. Copies of “Lucy Ann’s Chair” will be available for purchase and the author will sign your copies.

Storytime is a regular library program offered three times a week at both White Rock Branch
Library and Mesa Public Library. Library staff gear the reading to ages 3 to 5 but are able to
adjust the program should the participants be a little older or younger.

Please visit the library’s event calendar at LosAlamosLibrary.org where the library staff has
collected resources about reading development and storytime.
