Wolf And Mermaid Enchanted Café And Bakery To Open In Permanent Space At 181 Central Park Square

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NEWS RELEASE

Great things are worth waiting for. For almost a year now,  the people of Los Alamos, White Rock and elsewhere have patiently waited while Wolf and Mermaid poured espresso drinks and single origin coffee and served fresh baked goodies in pop-ups, using residential machines. Well that time has come to an end.

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 25, Wolf and Mermaid Enchanted Café and Bakery will be open in their newly renovated space at 181 Central Park Square. With professional machines and a brand new oven, they will be able to serve croissants, fresh baked muffins, lattes and for the purists, even doppios and macchiatos.

The Chamber of Commerce will host a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 9:30 AM.

Last fall, Scott and Kate completed a successful pop-up shop as part of Phase II of the Los Alamos Business Accelerator program hosted by Los Alamos MainStreet and the Chamber of Commerce. After the successful pop-up trial, they leased the 181 Central Park Square space and began renovations, while operating out of Bathtub Row Brewing Coop.

The Business Accelerator will being again soon. Interested parties may participate in a series of workshops, led by Los Alamos MainStreet and Chamber of Commerce, geared toward helping new entrepreneurs get their start in Los Alamos County. Applications are due Dec. 31, 2023. Cohort 3 will begin in January 2024. Phase I workshops take place at projectY cowork Los Alamos, 150 Central Park Square. Free to apply and participate. The operating hours of Wolf and Mermaid Enchanted Café and Bakery will be Monday-Friday from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday-Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. These hours will be subject to change based on the needs of the under-caffeinated and hungry people of Los Alamos.

New menu items will be rolled out regularly, as the staff becomes accustomed to the schedule and new space. In the first few weeks breakfast burritos, oatmeal bowls and fruit shakes will be added. Come in and visit often to see what new offerings are on the menu.

“The support of the overall community, and especially the County, the LACDC, Los Alamos MainStreet and Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce has been a key to our success,” said Scott Baird and Kate Kudynska, owners of Wolf and Mermaid. “And we cannot thank Doug and Rob and all their staff at Bathtub Brewing for being such generous and gracious hosts while we put everything into bringing our new space to fruition. Los Alamos is truly an extraordinary community.”
