Charles William “Bill” McCabe was born in Wallace, KS on December 6, 1933. But home was in Englewood, Colorado where he, parents and 2 brothers, Mick and John, lived most of their early life.
He married Dympna Lubeck and went on to have five children Kevin, Jamey, Jenny, Catherine, and Alan. They moved to White Rock, NM where Bill worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Tragically, Dympna and Jenny were killed in a car accident in 1978. Later, he joined with Valerie and Erin as a new and continuing family and lived in Los Alamos until the mid 90s.
Bill and Val retired to beautiful Alma, NM for approximately 20 years before ultimately moving to Santa Fe where they spent final years at Quail Run and Brookdale communities, all along connecting with many new friends. Bill passed away on June 15, 2023 in his 89th year.
His time included enjoying the outdoors with his friends, children and grandchildren. He built homes, families, churches and many many scientific devices for LANL and community. He lead a very full life, gracing those who knew him with kindness and warmth.
His many friends have made such a positive impact in our life, and we will always be grateful for that. We love you more than words can express.
Sincerely, Bill, Val, Dympna, Kevin, Jamey, Jenny, Catherine, Alan and Erin
