Los Alamos Dep. Police Chief Oliver Morris announced at noon that one lane is now open on Truck Route.  Intermittent traffic will be allowed to travel in both directions.  One lane still needs to be closed to mitigate hazardous material spillage. Drivers should expect delays, Morris said.

One person was transported by ambulance from the scene of an overturned dump truck at the bottom of East Jemez Road at Mile Marker 9. The overturned truck caused a diesel spill and the Los Alamos National Lab Hazmat team responded to the scene.

The Truck Route is was closed in both directions throughout the morning, with the western road block on East Jemez Road established east of Elk Ridge Mobile Home Park to allow residents to enter and leave Elk Ridge, Deputy Chief Morris said.

In addition to LAPD, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and Los Alamos Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.
