Yucca Blooms Dot Bandelier National Monument Landscape

Now is the time to view Yucca plants in bloom at Bandelier National Monument. A member of the lily family, Yucca supplied the Ancestral Pueblo with food in the form of blossoms, fruits and roots. The plant was also used for weaving sandals and rope. Soap and shampoo were made from the roots and the ends of the sharp leaves were used to make needles for sewing.
