The community can expect to witness a brand new level of Dance Arts Los Alamos ballet Friday, May 19 with the one-night performance of the classical full-length ballet “Giselle”. This is the 30th anniversary season of DALA and for the first time, the school is holding a Spring Gala from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. The show itself begins at 7 p.m. at Duane Smith Auditorium.
The Spring Gala at Fuller Lodge will include refreshments, hors d’oeuvres and a chance to meet and chat with the Giselle artistic staff. Attendees will have reserved seating at the performance itself. DALA is excited to offer this great evening of art and culture for the community. Tickets for the gala are $50 each and tickets for the ballet are $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.
Although the premiere of “Giselle” was in 1841, it has remained timeless with its romantic tale of innocent love and betrayal. heartbreak and enduring love. Act 1 begins in a village in the Rhineland Valley of Germany but Act 2 moves into a mystical, dark forest where the Wilis gather.
Choreography and staging for “Giselle” is by DALA Artistic Director Jonathan Guise, Rachel Zervakos, Karina Wilder and Allison Beaux. Christo McMaster is the principal guest artist for the production and will dance the role of Albrecht/Loys.
