COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos County Library System welcomes children’s picture book author and performer Lil Miss Hot Mess Saturday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the rotunda on the lower level of Mesa Public Library for Drag Story Hour. Lil Miss Hot Mess will read her picture books and share songs, presenting a fun storytime experience. All ages are welcome.

Local independent bookstore Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse plans to sell copies of If You’re a Drag Queen and You Know It at the event so fans may purchase a copy to be signed by the author. Drag Story Hour is “using the art of drag to read books to kids in libraries, schools, and bookstores.” Imaginative play bolsters self-confidence, communication, creativity, and literacy skills.

This event is presented free to the public courtesy of the Institute for Research on Male Supremacism. From their website: “The Institute for Research on Male Supremacism (IRMS) is an intersectional feminist organization that brings together experts from both inside and outside of academia to analyze and expose the dangers of misogynist ideology and mobilization.”
