Mountains & Molehills Team Raises $16,386 For Cancer Research And Treatment, Places 25th Out Of 200+ Fundraisers

BY NANCY PARTRIDGE

The Mountains and Molehills team successfully completed the 60-mile Susan G Komen 3-Day walk in Dallas with no injuries and only a few blisters and sore muscles. The team was able to raise $16,386, which placed us in the top 25 fundraisers out of more than 200 teams that participated. The combined fundraising efforts of the teams, solo walkers, and crew resulted in a total of $2.2 million raised for breast cancer research and treatment.

We would like to express our gratitude to the many Los Alamos individuals and businesses who supported our team.

Firstly, we would like to thank Rob and Lisa-Jo Dunham who generously hosted our TaTa Tortuga Pirate Party fundraiser and silent auction in their home. And we would like to thank Anna Dillane for bringing her entire Meet Up group to the fundraiser.

Our Gratitude also goes to Christy O’Brien at Black Mesa Massage and Sarafina Flores at Allure for donating gift certificates for the silent auction. We also would like to thank Laura Crucet at Pig + Fig Café and Pawell Listwan at Cottonwood on the Greens for donating desserts for the fundraiser.

We would like to thank our many, many donors who generously donated funds or successfully bid on items at the silent auction.

We would be remiss if we did not express our gratitude to Maire O’Neill, the Los Alamos Reporter, for bringing community awareness to our efforts through a wonderful article and a follow-up piece when we were forced off the route the first day by thunderstorms and a tornado warning. (The weather was much better for the second two days of the walk!)

And last but not least, we would like to thank the Los Alamos County Council for helping raise awareness through the Proclamation declaring October as Breast Cancer Awareness month in Los Alamos.

Sincerely, the Mountains and Molehills team,
