COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Do you want to learn more about yoga or share your practice with like-minded people? The staff at Mesa Public Library is pleased to announce a new and exciting Quarterly Yoga Book Club to be facilitated by certificated yoga therapist Jacci Gruninger, MS, C-IAYT. This series is free to the public thanks to the generous support of Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries, and the first session will be held Thursday, Nov. 3rd on Mesa Public Library’s lower level from 5:30 to 8pm. The program is suitable for adults of all ages and abilities.
Participants can expect to spend up to 45 minutes breathing, moving, and being still, and will then have the opportunity to engage in discussion about the book Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic by Darren Main. A limited number of copies are available for check out from either library ahead of the program; however, it is not necessary to have read the text in order to participate. Simply attending the program and learning about the concepts through discussion will help yogis deepen their practice and decide if they’d like to read the book later.
Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic teaches readers to apply the ancient wisdom of India to every aspect of life. From work and relationships to death and dying—allowing even our busiest days to become powerful and mystical adventures. This is not a book about perfecting yoga asanas or pranayama breathing techniques. It is a book about changing the way we see the world—transforming every experience and relationship into a yoga practice unto itself.
To support this program and patron learning, the library has put a limited number of yoga supply kits into circulation. Each kit includes a yoga mat, two blocks, and one 8-foot strap packed into a mesh bag for convenient transport. The check-out period is four weeks, but the kits are eligible for up to three auto-renewals if no holds have been placed. for Patrons are not required to attend library programs in order to check the kits out.
Space is limited for the Quarterly Yoga Book Club and registration is required. Please visit the event calendar at LosAlamosLibrary.org or call (505) 662-8257 for more information.
