Some may have wondered why no information has come out sooner, but times are changing, often daily at your local senior centers.

Finally, good news has arrived, in the form of COVID Omicron booster shots and 65 and over flu vaccines. The Aging and Long-Term Services Department has provided two opportunities to receive one or both, at your local senior center, at no cost, but bring your insurance card.

These vaccine clinics are in-person and indoors, compared to previous events hosted by the centers. Pharmacist Uri Bassan, will lead the two local clinics next week at the Betty Ehart Senior Center on Oct. 11 and at White Rock Senior Center on Oct. 13.

“These two clinics have a special twist,” said Bernadette Lauritzen, LARSO Executive Director. “The appointments from 9 a.m. to noon on both days will be ONLY for those age 50 and up in an attempt to ensure we are serving our community seniors,”

Lauritzen brought the idea to Denise King, Aging Network Division Directo of the Aging and Long-Term Services Department.

“I asked if we could schedule our own appointments, and she agreed, now it’s time to get them filled up,” Lauritzen.

The appointments are ONLY available by calling (505) 662-8920. If you get a voicemail, leave your name and phone number, you will be called back as soon as possible. You may not email in or request it through additional employees. The process requires answering certain questions and having your confirmation code or the patient number off your COVID vaccine card, if it is available.
