The Los Alamos Youth Mountain Biking Team is out hitting the trails and practicing 2 times each week for its 3rd annual season. The team is composed of Middle School and High School students (6th -12th) and is registered with the New Mexico National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). NICA focuses on building a biking community of respect, fun, equity and inclusivity.
The team’s head coach is Mary Grow, who coached a High School team in Albuquerque and brought her coaching talents to Los Alamos starting in 2020. The team rides on the trails around town, near the ski hill, and other special rides are planned, like La Tierra, for example, on the Northside of Santa Fe.
For more information on the practice or race schedule (riders and coaches can still join!), please email layouthmtnbiketeam@gmail.com. There will also be a NICA Bike Fest and kick-off event hosted by NICA, NM NICA, and the Pajarito Ski Hill on August 19-20 for all NM registered riders, coaches, and families.
