Kiwanis Scholarship Recipient Elise Chavez Speaks To Club

Elise Chavez, who earned a Kiwanis-administered college scholarship this year, spoke at the Club’s July 19 meeting, outlining her record of community service and plans for the future . Chavez is pictured here with Club scholarship chairman Dennis Gill. She said her community action in Los Alamos began with 13 years of Girl Scout activities. She joined the Student Council at Los Alamos High School in her sophomore year, and was later elected senior class president. She also was involved in collecting food for those in need during the holidays. Chavez hopes to continue her public service at the University of New Mexico in the fall.
