Los Alamos Young Guns
This was my fourth year of competition with the Los Alamos Young Guns. Overall I had a great season. At New Mexico State level, I took High Overall for both the state competition and High Overall for the season in trap events. At the state competition I also came in third for American Skeet. The state competition was held at the Whittington Center in Raton, NM.
I was fortunate enough to have the incredible opportunity to travel and compete at the Scholastic Clay Target Program Nationals this month at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio. During this competition I competed in American Skeet, Skeet Doubles, Sporting Clays, Trap Singles, Trap Doubles and Trap Handicap. Although I did not place at nationals, this was an amazing opportunity and I met so many new people from all over the country and was able to travel to new places. This was such a fun trip with incredible learning opportunities that have helped me to become a better athlete.
I would like to thank the Los Alamos Sportsmens Club for supporting the entire Los Alamos Young Guns Shotgun Team and helping sponsor my trip to Nationals. Of course, I would also like to thank my coach Mike O’Neill. None of these wonderful opportunities would be possible without him. I am very grateful to my parents, Vernon and Barbara Vigil, for all their support.
