The 48th Annual Los Alamos County Triathlon will be held on Saturday, July 23 this is a sprint triathlon with a unique format of bike, swim, and run. As part of the event for the swim portion, the Los Alamos County Aquatics Center will be closed for the day for the race.
There will be cyclists traveling in both directions on Canyon Road, Diamond Drive, West Jemez Road (NM 501), and State Road 4, from 7:00am to 9:00am. The Triathlon will also have runners traveling both directions on Canyon Road and Diamond Drive from 8:00am to 11:00am. Police officers will be directing traffic at the intersections of Diamond Drive and Canyon Road, Trinity Drive and Diamond Drive, and Diamond Drive and West Jemez Road for this race.
Adding to the current road closures already in place for the construction project on Canyon Road, flaggers will be at the entrances of all parking lots along Canyon Road from 7:00am to 11:00am and will be stopping traffic entering and leaving the lots for race competitors to safely navigate the course.
