COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
On Wednesday, June 15 Los Alamos County Community Services Department will host two Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Audit and Transition Plan debrief meetings to discuss the findings of the ADA Audit, that was conducted November through April. John McGovern with WT-Engineering, a recognized expert in the ADA field and our consultant will be leading the conversation. The audit was focused on recreational facilities in our community which include athletic fields, picnic areas, trails, playgrounds, and other amenities.
The ADA Audit and Transition Plan is a requirement of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This federal civil rights law prohibits discrimination based on disability by Los Alamos County and imposes several affirmative mandates. One is an audit of all existing parks and facilities, and the other is a phased schedule of retrofit known as a Transition Plan. These two tasks are described in the title II regulation at 28 CFR Part 35.
Two debrief meetings will be held on June 15th:
1) In-person at Fuller Lodge at 8:30am-10:00am
2) Zoom Meeting
When: June 15, 2022 05:30 PM Mountain Time (US and Canada)
