Obituary: Gloria L. Baca Aug. 10, 1934 – Feb. 16, 2022

Gloria L. (Molina) Baca (mamacita) of Santa Fe, NM (formerly Los Alamos, NM) returned to Our Heavenly Father on February 16, 2022 after a brief illness.  Gloria was born on August 10, 1934 in El Rancho, NM to Wilfredo and Adelinda Roybal and raised by her maternal grandparents, Juan Bautista and Vitalia Rivera in Nambe, NM.

Gloria finished well!  She lived a servant’s life, with a servant’s heart, that was felt by anyone she came in contact with.  Her witty personality was evident soon after she met anyone new.  She loved to make people laugh and would often tell them a joke.  While in the hospital, she made everyone laugh and the medical staff said she had a spirit they wished all patients’ had.  Gloria loved to make puzzles, word search books, adult coloring, and talk on her ‘well-used’ flip cell phone.  When she made or received phone calls, she quickly jumped on her horse (walker) to move to another location to talk in private.  She loved to dance the Bongo Cha Cha Cha and she made up several fancy moves.

While Gloria lived in Los Alamos, she volunteered at Sombrillo Nursing Home, Casa Mesita, and helped serve meals after funerals at her church.

Gloria is predeceased in death by her husband Silfred Baca, her first husband Ernest Molina, her parents Wilfredo & Adelinda Roybal, her great grandparents Juan Bautista & Vitalia Rivera, infant daughter Maria, grandsons Christopher and Joe, great grandson Christian, sister Dorothy, brothers Ben and Ramos, and step-daughter Barbara.

Gloria is survived by her children Cathy (Freddie), Michael (Tess), Corine, Brenda (Antonio), Patty, brothers Johnny, Gerald and Aniver, sisters Orlin, Dolores and Joann, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her step-children Orlando, Manual, Rosemary & Martha and her Los Alamos kids (as she referred to them), Rob Lamb and Melissa Montoya, Kevin and Melinda Albright, Dewayne Clemmons, and Tony and Diane Montoya.

Services will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Los Alamos on Friday, February 25, 2022.  The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be held at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.  Gloria will be buried at the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, followed by a reception at the Berardinelli McGee Event Center.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gloria’s name to:  Carmelite Monastery, 49 Mount Carmel Rd., Santa Fe, NM 87505.
