Let’s Get Snarky: Mesa Public Library Offers Virtual Needlecraft Workshop Feb. 24 For Disaffected Romantics

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

If the thought of Valentine’s Day makes you cringe, and you can’t  wait to see February in the rear-view mirror, Mesa Public Library has just the thing for you! Join  us online for Snarky Heart Needlecraft: A Workshop for Disaffected Romantics led by local artist  Samuel Buelow on Thursday, February 24 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. You’ll learn to make your very  own collection of grumpy, crinkly conversation hearts that you can take smug satisfaction in all  year long.

No needlecraft experience is necessary, however, due to the instructional nature of this program,  registration will be limited. Be sure to register early to save yourself a seat in the virtual Zoom  room! Pre-made take-and-make supply kits are available at no cost from the main service desks at both Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library. You will be required to register to  attend the event prior to picking up your kit.

Samuel Buelow is a fiber artist who specializes in felting, crocheting, knitting, temari-style  embroidery, and weaving. He holds a PhD in anthropology from Indiana University  Bloomington, and he conducted his field work in Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan)  where he was influenced by the elaborate felt art traditions of both countries.

This program is free and open to the public and will be conducted online via the Zoom platform.  To obtain your meeting link and access to the program, registration is required. Please register  through the event calendar at LosAlamosLibrary.org or call (505) 662-8257 for assistance.
