LAPD NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Animal Shelter will be changing its hours of operation starting Feb. 1. The Shelter will now be closed on Wednesdays for staff training, animal care, and deep cleaning of the facility. 

The new hours of operation will be as follows:

Open Sunday thru Tuesday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed on Wednesday
Open Thursday thru Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This change will help the shelter have a common work day for our employees to help better provide for the animals in our care – giving us a day that we will use for the animals’ vet appointments and for deep cleaning the shelter, kennels, and cat room areas.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our guests and visitors, but we hope that it will not discourage you from coming to the shelter.

Just remember we are here for our community and the animals at our shelter so if there is ever a need for service on a Wednesday, please call us at (505) 662-8179 and we will be happy to help you with whatever you may need.

If you are a new or current volunteer, we encourage you to still come on Wednesday and volunteer as the shelter will still be open to volunteers.   

If you are not a current volunteer and would like to become one, we are always accepting applications for new volunteers and we look forward to seeing you at the shelter.
