Kiwanis Monica Griego, the new director of the United Way of Northern New Mexico, gave a presentation on November 16 to the Kiwanis club of Los Alamos.
She acknowledged the many chances she was given to learn, grow, and become involved and apply her skills during her internship at the White House during the Clinton administration and her work for both the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Kennedy family. Now she is trying to give others a chance to build a better community.
She outlined many of the programs and accomplishments including supporting food systems to address hunger issues, developing shelters, teen centers, and student educational support.
United Way is hosting a series of “Ask Me Anything” coffees and is working hard to get to know people in the community better and to build closer ties with LANL and its employees.
