LAPS NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos Public Schools thanks the Los Alamos Community for the strong support of the Public Schools Building Act. More than 70% of the voters approved the continuation of this funding.
“The passing of this referendum is an excellent investment in our students and our community,” said Interim Supt. Jennifer Guy. “I am grateful for the trust the community has placed in the district. We will work hard to continue to make our schools great places for our students to learn and grow.”
LAPS plans to use this funding for landscaping, irrigation, playground equipment, outdoor learning areas and technology for students. Facilities will ensure that heating and cooling systems are working properly throughout the district and needed repairs to facilities are completed.
Thank you to all of the School Board candidates for their passion for education and willingness to serve the district. We want to thank outgoing Board Member Stephen Boerigter for his years of service and support of the schools.
Congratulations to school board election winners Ellen Specter (District 1), Antonio Jaurigue (District 2), Melanie Colgan (District 4), and Erin Green (District 5). Incumbents and newly-elected members will be sworn in at the School Board meeting on January 11, 2022.
