LOS ALAMOS JJAB NEWS RELEASE

As colder weather sets in, it is time to make sure youth in our community have the proper gear to stay warm and protected. This year, Los Alamos JJAB will once again be organizing a winter clothing project for those in need. Youth, ages 5 – 18, that live or attend school in Los Alamos County will be provided winter coats, boots, gloves, scarves, and/or hats.

The JJAB Resource Specialists, Los Alamos Public School (LAPS) counselors, and other local organizations, such as Self-Help and LAC Victim Assistant, are working to identify needs and submit requests. Last year, generous donations supplied 85 youth with items that kept them warm all season long.

There are two ways the community can support this project:

  • The best was to help is to make a financial donation at www.losalamosjjab.com before Friday, October 31st. All financial donations will be used to purchase new items for youth, allowing us to make sure each youth receives the items needed in the right size.
  • Donate new or “like-new” winter coats, boots, gloves, scarves, or hats. Donation bins will be available at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church through October 31st. The church is located at 2390 North Road and the donation bins will be set up at the side entrance adjacent to the parking lot. While any donation will assist youth, last year the largest need was for neutral color coats and boots for ages 6 to 10.

Clothing items will be distributed by the middle of November. Questions? Contact JJAB at (505) 709-8125 or info@losalamosjjab.com.
