COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos County Social Services Division is excited to host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their Grand Re-Opening at the new location near the Health Commons, 1183 Diamond Drive, Suite E in Los Alamos, Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10:00 a.m.
The Social Services Division opened at their new office space on September 9, creating a one stop-shop for social services in the community, and meeting a County Council priority goal of supporting social services improvements.
“Being near the Health Commons, a local food distribution location, the Los Alamos Medical Center, UNM-LA, and Los Alamos High School allows us to be more visible and accessible to the community and create a welcoming environment for clients with our own designated office space,” said Social Services Division Manager, Donna Casados.
The Social Services Division includes, in addition to Donna, Case Coordination Specialist, Deni Fell, and Health Care Specialist, Eloisa Sanchez. The Division oversees a variety of social services contracts, including Family Resources, Support, and Parent Education Programs, ages 0 to 6 (Promotion/Prevention and Intervention/Treatment), the Los Alamos and White Rock Youth Activity Centers, the Teen Center, the Juvenal and Restorative Justice Programs, Los Alamos Public Schools Prevention Programs, Health Commons, and Senior Services. The Social Services Division also manages the County’s Indigent Health Care Program (HCAP) and the Los Alamos County DWI Program, as well as providing staff support to the Los Alamos County Health Council and the DWI Planning Council.
During the Ribbon Cutting, we will also be hosting an Open House for the community to learn more about the various programs and opportunities available through the Social Services Division and their contractors.
