LAHS NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Historical Society will be hosting a Yard Sale and Silent Auction to benefit the J. Robert Oppenheimer House on Saturday, September 25, from 9:00 a.m–1:00 p.m. Where will this event take place? Outside the Oppenheimer House, of course! The house on the corner of Peach Street and Bathtub Row.

The sale includes items from the estate of Helene Suydam. Helene was a collector, so the items include many interesting things from her 60 years traveling around the world: pottery, books, dishes, furniture, Persian rugs, vinyl albums, artwork, Nambe ware, and much more!

Executive Director Liz Martineau says, “Every penny raised during this event will go toward the restoration needed to open the house to the public, and donations will be accepted.” To learn more about the Oppenheimer House, visit the society’s website (losalamoshistory.org).

If you are curious about what was in the house or want to help open this historic property to the public, please join the Los Alamos Historical Society on Saturday, Sept. 25. The bidding for the Silent Auction will close at 12:30.

Can’t make the sale? The historical society has an account set up at Enterprise Bank and Trust specifically for Oppenheimer House donations, or you may also give online (losalamoshistory.org).
