It’s time to start formulating questions for candidates in this year’s Nov. 2 local election for Los Alamos Public School Board and UNM-LA Advisory Board members. Two candidate forums have so far been announced that will allow the community to get a feel for the positions of those running and provide an opportunity to have those questions answered:

Republican Party of Los Alamos Chair Bill McKerley has announced a Meet the Candidates: Forum and Fundraiser to be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Sept. 17 at Church of Christ, 2323 Diamond Drive. Candidates will be given the opportunity to address the audience with a five-minute prepared speech followed with up to 10 minutes of questions and answers time with the audience. There will be a space for candidates to display their candidate literature and a basket to collect campaign donations. Masks and sanitizer will be available and light refreshments will be served.

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos has scheduled a virtual forum via Zoom for Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will include a presentation about new election rules by Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas.
