COUNTY NEWS
Los Alamos County Library System is pleased to announce that it will re-open with a combination of curbside and walk-in service starting Monday, March 8 at Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library.
- Walk-in service hours are Tuesday and Thursday 2pm-6pm, Saturday 10am-2pm.
- Curbside service hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2pm-6pm.
- Computer sessions are available by reservation only during service hours Monday through Saturday, please call 662-8250 or email libweb@lacnm.us to schedule a reservation.
- Walk-in access will be limited to 30 people at Mesa Public Library and 10 people at White Rock Branch Library, on a rolling basis.
After nearly a year of restricted access, Los Alamos County Library System Operations Librarian Eva Jacobson says “We have been so excited to be able to deliver library materials through curbside, but we can’t wait to have patrons back in the building. We have missed the chats about good books, the face-to-face service, and the simple things like a greeting or a quick wave.”
What can you expect when you visit the library?
Visitors must wear masks and will go through a temperature screening prior to entry. Do not visit the library if you are ill or any member of your household is ill. Visits are limited to 30 minutes except for computer reservations. During this new phase of re-opening, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult, and study rooms and meeting rooms are unavailable. Patrons are encouraged to bring their library card and use the self-checkout stations. Please return all library materials to the outside book drops. For your safety and the safety of others, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before and after handling library materials. The library can’t guarantee that materials are risk free, but library items are still quarantined for 72 hours after being returned. Melissa Mackey, head of the youth services department, says “We’re excited to see friends looking for books again. The shelves are way too full!”
Youth and adult virtual programs and events continue, please visit the events page on the website www.losalamoslibrary.org for more information!
