Santa Fe County Sheriff Seeks Public Input For Use Of Force Policy Revision

SFCSO NEWS

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of reviewing and revising its current Use of Force Standard Operating Procedure policy.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza seeks public input to the agency’s Use of Force policy. “As our agency reviews this policy our main objective is to ensure our agency is in compliance with federal and state safe policing statutes and to guarantee that we afford the public an opportunity to review the existing policy and a draft revised use of force policy. I encourage the public to provide recommendations regarding this Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement standard,” said Sheriff Mendoza.

There will be a 20-day period for the public to submit their recommendations to the sheriff’s office. A specific email address has been established to accept public comments regarding this matter. The public comment period will be from March 1, 2021 to March 20, 2021.

The existing policy will be posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page and on the sheriff’s Santa Fe County webpage – https://www.santafecountynm.gov/sheriff

The public is encouraged to review the policy and provide input.
