Los Alamos High School
The Los Alamos High School Rotary Interact Club would like to thank the Los Alamos community for all of the donations we received in our Thanksgiving collection drive. We appreciate the generosity of our community. Overall, our donation drive was very successful; we collected an incredible number of items, including a wide variety of clothing, winter coats, blankets, sleeping bags, face masks, soap, and other hygiene items. These donations will make a massive difference during the holiday season and winter months for the clients of Compassion through Action in Espanola. This nonprofit organization will distribute the donations to those experiencing homelessness in communities across Northern New Mexico.
Through these challenging times, we can come together as a community by donating and helping others who are not as fortunate. To continue our generosity as a community, Rotary Interact is holding another food drive for LA Cares. This food drive will be held Wednesday, January 27th, and will also be a drive by, Covid safe process. Rotary Interact will release a specific list of items that are greatly needed, but all donations are welcome.
Please also consider donating to local organizations including, St. Elizabeth Shelters & Supportive Housing, Compassion Through Action, and Interfaith Community Shelter at Pete’s Place. Cash donations are also greatly appreciated and have the most impact.
Special thanks to Yunseo Kim for organizing the donation drive, the Ovaska family and Sandy Tobin for sorting through the donations, and to our club sponsor, Mrs. Batha, for distributing the donations to Compassion Through Action. Our project would not have been possible without all the generous people of Los Alamos. Thank you!
