Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8874 and N3B-Los Alamos are teaming up for a drive-through food drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at the VFW Post, 1793 Deacon Street.
The goal is to collect donations of groceries or money for LA Cares in preparation for the coming holiday season. N3B, the legacy waste contractor at Los Alamos National Laboratory will pitch in $1 for every pound of food donated up to 500 pounds, however the team is hoping to pass the 500 pounds.
Los Alamos Co-Op Market has donated hot dogs for the event and a free hot dog and a soda will be given to anyone who comes through the drive-through area to make a contribution. Vehicles will be required to enter via Deacon Street and exit on to Trinity Drive. All COVID guidelines will be strictly adhered to during the event.
Donations are also being accepted at the Office of the President’s Suite at Enterprise Bank & Trust, 1200 Trinity Drive.
Items particularly needed by LA Cares include:
- Healthy and low-sugar kids’ cereal
- 64 oz plastic bottles of grape or cranberry juice
- Canned fruit cocktail
- Canned pasta sauce
- Chef Boyardee pasta
- Kids’ juice boxes
- 4 lb bags of sugar
No glass containers please
