Editor,
I support Denise Derkacs for Los Alamos County Councilor.
She has lived in this community for 38 years, working and raising a family. As a councilor she wants to preserve what makes this a good place to live, and get to work on fixing the things that need improvement.
Denise has served for two years on the county’s Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB), which was created to study and advise on controversial issues involving nuisance code enforcement. Hers has been a voice for respectful and factual discussion, that has led to improved county procedures.
In meeting the growing need for housing, she understands that a balance must be struck between housing options and building sites that maintain the precious open space around us. In promoting a healthy local economy, she also understands the importance of zoning and permitting processes that will give small businesses a chance to operate downtown for a reasonable cost.
Denise has been attending Council meetings for the last two years. She is ready and able to serve as a Los Alamos County Councilor.
