LAPS Announces Transportation Details For Planned Oct. 19 Hybrid Model Return To School

LAPS NEWS

The Los Alamos Public Schools is preparing for in-person instruction to begin on Oct. 19 at all elementary schools. An important step in this process includes gathering information for bus transportation.

The LAPS Transportation Department asks parents and guardians to complete a Bus Card in order for their children to ride the bus.

The Bus Card can be found on the LAPS website under the “Transportation” button on the home page. This information is essential for students to ride the bus.

Bus service will begin once LAPS transitions to the Hybrid Model, starting with the elementary schools on Oct. 19.

Based on state regulation, bus service runs for students who live the required distance from their school: 1 mile for elementary, 1.5 miles for middle school and the Topper Freshman Academy, and 2 miles for 10th-12th graders. Bus service is only available for eligible students who reside in Los Alamos County.

For questions about transportation, please contact Keith Rosenbaum or Chris Smith at 663-2255 or email Keith at k.rosenbaum@laschools.net.
